2012 Confucius Institute Scholarship Program Accepting Applications
The Confucius Institute Headquarters has announced its 2012 Confucius Institute Scholarship program is accepting applications until May 4, 2012.
The program is aimed to support the development of Confucius Institutes, facilitate Chinese language and cultural promotion throughout the world, and cultivate qualified Chinese language teachers and talented students of Chinese language.
Theis program provides financial aid for students, scholars and Chinese language teachers worldwide to further their learnings to a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) in Chinese universities, or studies in majors such as the Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History and Chinese Philosophy.
Applicants can log on to the Confucius Institute Scholarship website at http://cis.chinese.cn. From there they are able to set up an individual account, acquire the right information and introduction of host institutes and majors. Once completed, applicants may submit the Confucius Institute Scholarship Application Form online.
Applicants are also required to print out the Form and submit it to their recommended institution (Kong Zi Institute at University of Malaya) along with other necessary materials.
The Chinese Language Council International Office, (Hanban) was established by the Chinese Government in 1987. Hanban is well renowned in Kong Zi Institute and is also one of the main sponsors of the Chinese Bridge competition, a competition among non-native speakers based on their Chinese language proficiency. Hanban commits itself in advancing the teachings of the Chinese language and providing better insights of the Chinese culture resources as well as making its services available worldwide. Hanban works relentlessly in meeting the demands of global Chinese learners to the utmost fluency not forgetting the contribution of global cultural diversity and harmony. Generally, the Council is in charge with cultivating adequate knowledge and interest in the Chinese language and culture throughout the world.
The “Chinese Bridge” is an international contest sponsored by Hanban. It is well known worldwide in terms of its cultural and educational exchanges.
