- 马来亚大学孔子学院举办 首届马来西亚国际学校汉语教学研讨会 Seminar on Chinese Language Teaching for Malaysian International Schools
On Nov 4th and 5th, The 1st Seminar on Chinese Language Teaching for Malaysian International Schools co-organized by Kong Zi Institute University of Malaya and Confucius Institute of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore was held successfully. Four Mandarin teaching experts from Singapore and 137 teachers from 28 local international schools and 30 Chinese teaching organizations joint this seminar.
In past few years, with the increasing number of international schools, Mandarin teaching is getting more featured and important. How to get Chinese teaching in Malaysia access to the advanced level of international Chinese teaching, and how to enhance the communication between international schools in Malaysia and Singapore is the main topics of this seminar.
The seminar kicks off on Nov 4th, Chinese director Mr. Chen Zhong from Kong Zi Institute University of Malaya, director Dr. Liang Bingfu from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore delivered the opening speech respectively, and they hoped that during the spreading of Chinese language, splendid Chinese cultures can be inherited and promoted. Subsequently, four keynote speeches were presented by experts from Singapore on “Child Psychological Development and Bilingual Teaching Strategy”, “Differentiated Instruction in a Primary Chinese Classroom”, “Language Activity-based Communicative Testing for CL2 Learners”, “Huahao Yueyuan– Culture Extension in Language Teaching”. The wonderful speeches offered teachers the latest ideas and methods of Chinese language teaching.
A Roundtable with the theme of “Problems & Consideration on Mandarin Teaching in Malaysian international schools” was organized on Nov 5th. Teaching methods and experience were exchanged and shared by experts and local teachers. And the experts also proposed solutions for the problems from local teachers. The roundtable with a warm and friendly atmosphere, offered a platform that Mandarin teachers from international schools both in Malaysia and Singapore can get a better communication and understanding.
